Why Mouse Poison Doesn't Work Alone
Published 6/10/2026 ยท 5 min read
Bait alone won't fix a mouse problem. Exclusion is what actually solves it.
How mice actually enter
Mice squeeze through gaps as small as a dime. In the Hudson Valley, dryer vents, gaps around gas and water penetrations, and the base of garage doors are the top three entry points.
Why bait alone fails
Killing mice indoors leaves entry points open. New mice find them within days. Populations rebound.
The real fix: exclusion + traps + bait outside
Seal entry points with steel mesh and sealant. Set snap traps interior. Bait stations exterior only. This is the standard professional protocol and it's why professional service works and DIY often doesn't.
