Different biology, different habits, completely different treatment plans.

Size and location

German cockroaches are small (½ inch) and live indoors in kitchens and bathrooms. American cockroaches are large (1½–2 inches) and typically enter from sewers, drains, or basements.

Why German is worse

German cockroaches reproduce indoors year-round. A single female produces 300–400 offspring in her lifetime. American cockroaches are usually solo invaders you can trace to an entry point.

Treatment implications

German = multi-visit gel bait and IGR protocol, sanitation critical. American = drain and sewer line intervention plus exclusion. Do not treat them the same way.
